Soybean, also called soja bean or soya bean, annual legume of the pea family and its edible seed. The soybean is economically the most important bean in the Mungeli District of Chhatisgarh, providing vegetable protein for millions of people and ingredients for hundreds of chemical products. -
Paddy is the principal crop and the central plains of Chhattisgarh are known as rice bowl of central India. Other major crops are coarse grains, wheat, maize, groundnut, pulses and oilseeds. -
Groundnut is the major oil seed crop in mungeli and it plays a major role in bridging the vegetable oil deficit in the Chhatisgarh. Groundnuts in Mungeli district are available throughout the year due to a two-crop cycle harvested in March and October.
About Mungeli District
One of the largest tehsils of the 142-year-old state, Mungeli was made district in January 2012 by Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh inaugurated new district. The population of this new district with 3 development blocks.
Mungeli got the status of tahsil in 1860. Thus, after 142 years, it became a district from Mungeli tehsil. The new district comprises three Tehsil Mungeli, Patharia and Lormi.Total area of the district is 1 lakh 63 thousand 942 square kilometers. There are many religious and tourist sites in Mungeli district. Where every year there is also a big fair.
